Rhino Op

We recently returned from assigning ID numbers to young Rhino in The South Eastern Lowveld of Zimbabwe. There were 24 animals that required notching and microchipping; this is a vital requirement in order to monitor and protect these animals.

Due to Covid and a bunch of other challenges the op was delayed by a month and had to be performed in October which is not good because of the high temperatures. Thankfully we had mostly very favourable conditions and if it was too hot we simply sat and waited for cooler temps. We also made a few changes to how we generally do this work and were able to significantly streamline the process for the good of the Rhino… all in all it was an extremely successful operation especially given the timing.

Thanks to the entire team (you know who you are), from funders to organisers and guys on the ground, it truly is a combined effort by passionate people.

September Work

On our latest op in the BVC we moved almost 1100 animals to alleviate some severly dry areas and give the game a better chance of seeing it through to the rainy season… we even managed a spot of fishing.
